District English Learner Advisory Committee (DELAC)
About the Event
We are excited to offer a training series for District English Learner Advisory Committee (DELAC) teams of parents/caretakers. This unique training series is designed to inspire and develop parent leaders, resulting in increased engagement of parent leaders and improved effectiveness of DELAC leadership for the benefit of English learners. The DELAC Academy is unique in that it will connect the seven responsibilities of DELAC with tangible, relatable experiences through the lens of parent leadership. In this Academy, DELAC teams will develop their leadership skills by understanding their role in: (1) the District English Learner Master Plan, (2) conducting a District-wide needs assessment, (3) reviewing and commenting on reclassification procedures, and (4) the English learner program as outlined in the Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP).

Understand the impacts of student engagement and school climate on student achievement of English learners in your school/district
High-Quality Instruction
Understand and contextualize the conditions of learning and engagement of English learners in your school/district
Parent Engagement and Participation
Shared decision-making for English Learners, including process and policies on school and district accountability plans
TARGET AUDIENCE
DELAC Teams and District staff that support them. The Academy will be conducted in English and Spanish, depending on the content. Translation services will be provided.
LOCATIONS (HYBRID)
In an effort to accommodate multiple DELAC teams, the Academy will be conducted through Zoom. However, RCOE staff will be hosting a concurrent in-person option, should DELAC teams be available to meet at our RCOE- Riverside location.

All cancellations must be made in writing prior to the Tuesday, January 5, 2027, deadline date. Refunds will not be issued after the deadline or for no-show participants.
