Maternal Equity for BIPOC Mothers
Maternal Equity for BIPOC mothers. How to help mothers advocate for themselves and educate them on postpartum awareness. This session addresses families' experiences with postpartum depression and how health disparities affect black and brown women. We will cover what to look for in parents, how to address it, and how to empower mothers in this critical time. It is essential to share the services offered at state-funded head start/ early start programs and collaborate with programs such as WIC and Black Infant Health that address these issues. We understand that women of color face health disparities daily, especially during their maternal stage. This session will help you learn how to embrace the postpartum stage, and we will also address resources that are available to those within your community. We work diligently in the social service sector, so it's important to know we have power in our position and can use that power to address disparities in areas that we serve and families that we serve.
