Using parts of a title adopted as a workshop for addressing the challenging behaviors of Black males in urban Head Start programs 20-plus years ago, this presentation was conceived to re-visit, revise, and re-think this concept in today’s preschool classrooms.  This presentation will examine current related theories and concepts while positioning the traditional classroom as the real agent of “challenge” for not just Black male preschoolers but too many young students.  Within this context, the presentation will introduce a call for original Warrior teaching and not just Disney concepts. Adoption of this traditional role is not only possible but critically needed for the well-being of all Head Start educators and those who support their work.
