Carla came to digital and e-learning from a background in the performing arts, pioneering in the digital media landscape in the UK, Europe and Japan on edutainment titles for Dorling Kindersley. Following a digital strategy and product /service development and management path through digital agencies, consultancy, digital publishing, startups and managing e-marketing and interactive TV initiatives for Life Science and Healthcare providers, Carla landed in the e-learning space working on international healthcare portal programmes around mental health, healthcare guidelines and awareness as well as public health campaigns around prevention. This is where she also got acquainted with and hooked on e-learning. The interest in e-learning fully awakened, Carla then moved into e-learning for Education, mainly working on Schools and Higher Ed programmes and strategies for international education markets and publishers. Carla was Global Digital Director at Cambridge University Press Education, before deciding to give something back and advise and mentor edTech start-ups and learning players in the UK and especially Africa, believing in technology as a catalyst to access to learning. Additionally e-learning strategy and solution consulting, speaking and chairing panels at conferences are never too far from the agenda. Earlier this year, Carla joined the Institute of Education - UCL as Director of Futures and is now developing digital strategies and programmes to support the Institute’s reputation and reach.
