A1965 graduate of Syracuse University with a degree in the life sciences, after graduation Mr. Major served in the US Army as a Captain in Armor Branch for 5 years before being appointed an FBI Special Agent. He served in Sarasota Florida, Newark New Jersey, Washington DC, and Baltimore FBI as Field Offices as well as three assignments at FBI Headquarters (the FBI SCI Security Office, the Counterintelligence Division and the Inspection Division). Mr. Major has made a life-long commitment to the practice and study of counterintelligence and its subset, counterterrorism, making him one of the nation's top experts on the subject. His views and advice are sought after by the government; private companies; and the national and international media. Mr. Major served in the FBI from an investigative Special Agent to a senior official and worked foreign counterintelligence his entire career. In various capacities, he was involved in nearly all the major espionage cases during the period 1972-1994; and has recruited, run and handled agents, double agents and defectors as well as identified and investigated people arrested for espionage and terrorism. Mr. Major also used his counterintelligence skills to work against radical violent groups such as the Black Panthers, the Black Liberation Army, the KKK and other "hate” groups. Upon retiring from the FBI, Mr. Major founded the Centre for Counterintelligence and Security Studies (CI Centre) to provide high-quality counterintelligence, counterterrorism and security training for the government and corporate sector. The CI Centre has developed over 55 off the shelf training courses and seminars and has trained over 100,000 people in counterintelligence, intelligence, counterterrorism, area studies, investigative skills and security topics.
