Dawn Allbee, MA Director, Corporate Robust Process Improvement As Director of Corporate Robust Process Improvement, Ms. Allbee leads the deployment of Robust Process Improvement (RPI®) within The Joint Commission enterprise and within participating healthcare organizations, ensuring the widespread use of RPI methods as a means of achieving strategic and operational goals. Dawn is one of the Joint Commission’s internal leaders for safety culture improvement and also provides direction, management, and guidance on change initiatives to senior leadership, staff, the Joint Commission enterprise and the Center for Transforming Healthcare. Ms. Allbee, a certified Master Change Agent and certified Green Belt, provides training for all staff in change management as part of the RPI initiative at The Joint Commission. In addition, she provides expert training in change management, facilitation and RPI program development for health care organizations nationwide. RPI includes the use of Six Sigma, Lean, change management and other performance improvement methodologies to drive results. Dawn has also worked closely with the Center for Transforming Healthcare team, co-leading multi-hospital improvement projects focusing on preventing avoidable hospitalizations for heart failure patients and strengthening safety culture. Dawn is a mentor to the more than one hundred Joint Commission Enterprise Change Agents and staff utilizing RPI tools to improve processes. She also conducts facilitated meetings, Work Outs, team building sessions and DMAIC projects across the Enterprise. In addition, Dawn leads the Safety Culture Alignment team in developing training for building a strong safety culture within the organization. Dawn continues to speak at healthcare industry conferences on change management, leaders facilitating change and process improvement. Hired by The Joint Commission as a Senior Information Technology Training Specialist in 2002, Ms. Allbee provided company-wide computer training and desktop support to all levels of employees within The Joint Commission. Prior to her work at The Joint Commission, she was a project manager and software architect consultant working with enterprise software application integrations. In addition, she provided technical application training for both domestic and international customers. Ms. Allbee began the teaching and training side of her career as faculty in the Communication department at Eastern Illinois University and then later at Moraine Valley Community College teaching public speaking, persuasion, and interpersonal communication courses. In addition, she has developed and delivered extensive training on various software packages and computer applications for adult learners over the course of her career. Ms. Allbee earned her Master’s degree in Communication from Eastern Illinois University in Charleston, IL.
