Mindy Thomas is the Co-Founder and Chief Creative Tinkerer of Tinkercast, a new interactive audio company that specializes in creating high-quality programming that inspires kids and their grownups to keep their “Eyes Up. Screens Down. Jaws Dropped.” With her Tinkercast team and co-host, Guy Raz (NPR’s TED Radio Hour and How I Built This) Mindy launched the company’s first podcast, Wow in the World, in May of this year. Distributed by NPR, Wow in the World marks the public radio network’s first children’s program in its 47-year history. Additionally Mindy can be heard live on SiriusXM’s Kids Place Live weekday mornings as host of Gracie Award-winning Absolutely Mindy Show. A veteran of children’s programming and one of the original architects of Kids Place Live, she has been with the network since the beginning, serving as Program Director of the channel for over a decade. Mindy is a strong advocate for children’s literature, independent family music, and imagination. Her experience as a live talk show host for kids has helped to reinforce her mission to create programming that can be smart, interesting, and compelling for both kids and adults, without sacrificing an ounce of silliness. When not living out her own childhood dreams of “playing radio,” Mindy spends her time exploring the wow in her world with her husband and two curious and creative kids. She loves action, adventure, the great outdoors, and has no plans of ever growing up.
