Dr Leila Alem is a Principal consultant and scientist in Human Computer Interaction and Enterprise Innovation. She helps businesses unlock value from AR /VR , Wearables, Natural User Interfaces and AI , and guide them on how to effectively deliver value to their customers using a combination of design thinking, learn startups and agile methods.Leila has an established international profile in Human Computer Interaction with a special interest in enhancing user experiences through novel ways of working together, learning and engaging with digital content using mobile, wearable sensing and AR/VR/MR technologies. She has 100+ publications and is the editor of the following books/ international journals :Human Factors in Augmented Reality environments, Recent trends of mobile collaborative augmented reality, Collaboration in Augmented Reality. Leila is an Adjunct professor at the UTS in Human Computer Interaction. She was awarded the 2013 NSW State Innovation Award in R&D and was a finalist for the 2015 Women in Tech Outstanding Achievement award.Over the past two years, Leila was a Principal Consultant at Thoughtworks where she has developed a design led innovation practice around emerging technologies drawing on design thinking, lean startups and agile methods. Prior to this, she was principal research scientist at the CSIRO Digital Productivity and Services for over 23 years. Her formal training is in artificial intelligence and cognitive psychology. Over the past two decades of her career she has designed, evaluated and delivered innovation award winning ICT solutions for industries such as aviation, mining, manufacturing and health.
