John Webb leads Quantum Reach, an early stage venture and consulting hybrid focused on growth strategies for small/medium sized companies. He also serves as a healthcare industry consultant to large corporations, private equity/venture capital firms and other organizations looking for transformational change. In addition, he advises academic institutions on technology transfer and the commercialization of intellectual property. As the Head of Quantum Reach, John has been actively involved in working with incubators and urban markets to develop a foundation of entrepreneurship. This has included assisting with the revitalization of the city of Detroit by coaching start-ups and attracting investment capital. He also has consulted with distressed markets to develop innovative strategies needed to generate community impact through economic development. Before Quantum Reach, John was a Fortune 100 senior executive for P&L units of up to $5.0 billion in annual revenue. As a Senior Vice President at Aetna, he managed all Government programs, as well as growth through M&A and internal incubation of entrepreneurial endeavors. Previously, he had various executive roles at Unum Corporation. This included running its two largest markets(New York & Los Angeles) and an international assignment leading Unum Canada while based in Toronto. Prior to this, he worked in the aerospace industry for Rockwell International on the Space Shuttle and other Advanced Technology Programs. So, the term “rocket science” does apply! John is a Board member for Trust Risk Management Services(TRMS) and the A. Alfred Taubman Medical Research Institute(University of Michigan). He is also a guest instructor for Pepperdine University’s Micro-Enterprise Program and a Global Fellow of the IC2 Institute(University of Texas). On the non-profit front, he is very active in community related activities that assist with the homeless. John holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Michigan State University and an MBA from Pepperdine University. He is a current member of the National Association of Corporate Directors(NACD) and the Executive Leadership Council(ELC), which consists of the top 600 African-American executives in the U.S.
