Before joining Charlotte SCORE, Christopher spent 35 years in banking and finance, rising from a trainee to positions as a senior and executive officer. During his 47-year business career, he also served 11 years as Chief Financial Officer for a service and a manufacturing company. He began his career in New York City where he held a variety of banking positions. Other positions he held included credit administrator and Senior Vice President/Market Executive for First Citizens Bank and Trust in Charlotte, NC, senior vice president of M & F Bank in Durham, N.C., and Executive Vice President of Liberty Bank in Louisiana. A native of the Bronx in New York City, Christopher received an Associate of Arts degree from Bronx Community College before earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Public Accounting from the Bernard Baruch College of City University in New York City and later going on to graduate studies at New York University (NYU) Graduate Business School, majoring in Corporate Finance. An Army veteran from 1968-1970, Christopher served in Vietnam where he received a Purple Heart and was awarded a Silver Star for valor. Christopher retired in 2016 and since then has been a volunteer for Charlotte SCORE serving the four North Carolina counties of Catawba, Caldwell, Alexander, and Burke. In 2018, he was presented with a Distinguished Service Award from the Charlotte Chapter for rebuilding SCORE’s brand in Hickory as well as four Western Carolina counties by reaching out to various civic government organizations. He was the first SCORE mentor in Western Carolina to work with clients who have received U.S. Department of Agricultural (USDA) grants for small business. USDA and SCORE are partners.
