12:30pm - 1:10pm Implementing recommended strategies to improve data use and knowledge management: Lessons learned
Tuesday Jun 11
Integrating data and information into day-to-day decision-making in higher education, from senior management to front desk employees, requires positioning this contribution as a strategic priority, establishing clear institutional policies to foster collaboration across services involved, and building capacity throughout the organization. In 2016-17, a nationwide study of knowledge and information management in Chile produced a series of actionable recommendations for institutions to improve the effectiveness of their knowledge management. Two years later, we are looking at how these recommendations were operationalized in two institutions, where the actions ranged from formalizing certain initiatives underway to introducing innovative approaches to ensure data was used effectively across the institution. This presentation will show the rationale behind the recommendations offered, the importance for the institutions in question, the approaches to implementation that were chosen and the extent to which these have contributed to improved collaborations within the institution, clear responsibility alignment and enhanced performance.
