2:10pm - 2:50pm The Role of Institutional Research in Making Rankings Data Actionable
Tuesday Jun 11
Description
What is the most effective way to present rankings results to the campus aiming to make these data actionable and able to inform decision making? Yet, our format of choice is an occasional white paper (triggered by a ranking decline offering analyses, longitudinal perspectives, and suggestions. These presentations did little to support a systematic cycle of institutional improvement. Today we present "AggieMetrics," institutional dashboards and indicators providing leadership and campus stakeholders with a succinct snapshot of institutional position and opportunities for improvement. Exploiting our University Data Portal, we provide full context including goals, targets, benchmarking, and action plans. Connecting high-level dashboard metrics to granular data, leadership can monitor progress while underlying indicators support continuous improvement. Peer groups are derived from rankings positions and established, historically important peer groups. Finally, we discuss how the strategic direction suggested by rankings integrates with other campus planning efforts yielding a coherent plan for institutional improvement.
