Grassroots Economic Growth: Supporting Small Business
About the Event
Building Community Wealth Series Overview
Impact Hub Baltimore and SOCAP 365 are partnering to create a three-part series on Building Community Wealth. The series will explore how impact investors, conscious corporations, philanthropists, entrepreneurs and community leaders can support movements for economic opportunity and equity.
Join us for engaging breakfast conversations where we’ll highlight the cross-sector leaders doing the work in Baltimore and the region followed by small group discussions. The series is designed to build bridges between transformative solutions and the capital resources they need to grow and scale.

Event 2 - Grassroots Economic Growth: Supporting Small Business
While we often hear about the resources available to startups, existing small businesses, particularly brick and mortar businesses, encounter difficulty securing funding appropriate to their needs. Many of these entrepreneurs rely on bootstrapping and personal determination to grow their business. This interactive discussion will focus on new and existing resources to support local businesses, including small business loans, community development financial institutions, technical assistance providers, and other options for small business financing.
Our panel of entrepreneurs, funders, and policymakers will lead a discussion on how we can drive economic growth through supporting the resilient, value-adding businesses that are fixtures of our local community. We’ll dig into why new models of support for small businesses is a social issue and highlight existing solutions.
SOCAP (Social Capital Markets) is in the vanguard of the emerging global impact economy convening ideas and capital to catalyze world change. We are a network of investors, entrepreneurs, and social impact leaders addressing the world’s toughest challenges through market-based solutions. We actively seek out opportunities to accelerate the market at the intersection of money and meaning.
SOCAP is excited to partner on a three- part series on May 15, June 27 and July 10 on Community Wealth Building. Check back for additional event details soon.
