In this presentation, a group of Park University students will discuss and share their learning experience in programming the voice controlled devices as well as show case their skills. The following briefly describes the club history and members.
In August 2019, a group of students from Park University in Parkville, MO formed a programming club in learning voice controlled devices such as Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. Students are highly motivated as they learn this programming skill completely outside of the regular classroom on their own without any tie to any course grade. Since August 2019, the students have designed and developed several skills. Some of the skills have already been published in Amazon Skills Store for the general public. Furthermore, on January 13-15, 2020, after a successful fund raising endeavor, a group of 6 students attended the Project Voice Conference in Chattanooga, Tennessee. The students have learned tremendously from the conference to further improve their programming skills in voice controlled devices.
In this presentation, the audience will learn
(1) Student perspectives in learning how to program voice controlled devices
(2) The skills that are created by the students
(3) The educational values from student learning on the voice enabled technology
