First Coast STEM Goes Red
Welcome to STEM Goes Red- Teacher Materials Portal
Thank you for being a part of our Annual STEM Goes Red! This program is for First Coast middle school teachers. We hope this program allows your students to keep an open mind, dream big and understand that they have the power to be who they want and do what they want when they grow up. We are here to provide resources and encouragement, whatever their path may be. You might be wondering why the American Heart Association and Go Red for Women care about STEM. Did you know that although women fill close to half of all jobs in the U.S., they hold less than 25% of STEM jobs? And for every 100 female bachelors’ students, just 12 graduate with STEM majors, and only three continue to work in STEM fields. Through this partnership, we want to show students all the career possibilities in STEM fields – we think they will be surprised to discover just how many are out there! The next great medical breakthrough might even be made by someone participating in this digital experience. Go Red for Women is all about empowering women to take charge of their health and their future. Heart disease kills one in three women, but 80% of heart disease is preventable. We want students on the First Coast to be role models for the younger generation! We hope you and your students learn a little more about STEM careers and realize all the potential they have! This portal is for teachers. If you are a student wanting access to the materials, a waiver must be completed in advanced. Please email AHAFirstCoast@heart.org to receive more details about this digital experience.
