Technology has become so pervasive across businesses in all sectors that it’s been said time and again that all companies are now technology companies. This same logic applies to companies in manufacturing, retail, hospitality and other industries that rely heavily on their partners – and their digital supply chains -- to keep their businesses operational.
But for companies whose own operations – and those of their supply chain partners – are beset with rigid legacy systems, integration with other third parties can be an uphill battle. This helps explain why just 36% of executives surveyed by Blue Prism describe their supply chain as having achieved external integration with business partners or even end-to-end integration. Third party dependencies on critical business partners became acutely visible in 2020 and early 2021 as companies across a range of industries suffered from supply chain disruptions.
A growing number of companies have discovered that intelligent automation can help them to accelerate their transition to resilient digital supply chains and help them to solve many of the issues that have prevented them from being able to do so in the past.
