New York City Hypertension Summit
About The Event
Through a virtual Hypertension Summit, the AHA expects to bring together clinical and community-based leaders from across our city in a coordinated effort to escalate our campaign against uncontrolled high blood pressure. Sessions will address the latest science and research, clinical guidelines, and best practices in community engagement. The 2021 New York City Hypertension Summit aims to gather leaders from multiple sectors who share a commitment to addressing inequities around the prevention and management of high blood pressure. Leveraging the direction of our 2021 New York City Hypertension Summit Chair, Dr. Lawrence Phillips, and the collective expertise of our Planning Committee, we aim to elevate the control rate of New York City’s hypertension population to 70% by: providing evidence-based information to clinical and community leaders to highlight evidence- based resources and program implementation; leveraging and expanding the AHA's Target BP recognition program in Federally Qualified Health Centers, medical practices, community clinics and health systems; and implementing sustainable system improvements with allies in the clinical, community, corporate, non-profit, faith-based, and education sectors that will enable us to reach critical target populations. This digital event will highlight the latest in hypertension research, feature evidence-based strategies, provide insight into available tools / resources and establish a platform for collaboration across all partners.
