IET Renewable Power Generation and IET Generation, Transmission & Distribution are two of the IET's flagship journals. They received over 1 million downloads worldwide in 2021.

In 2020, the journals transitioned from subscription to gold open access with the rest of the IET's portfolio offering greater visibility and accessibility to articles, which are free to read, download and share.

IET RPG brings together the topics of renewable energy technology, power generation and systems integration, with techno-economic issues, and provides a forum for the presentation of new research, development and applications of renewable power generation. All renewable energy generation technologies are within the scope of the journal. What differentiates RPG from technology specific journals is a concern with power generation and how the characteristics of the different renewable sources affect electrical power conversion, including power electronic design, integration in to power systems, and technoeconomic issues.

IET GTD  is intended as a forum for the publication and discussion of current practice and future developments in electric power generation, transmission and distribution. Practical papers in which examples of good present practice can be described and disseminated are particularly sought. Papers of high technical merit relying on mathematical arguments and computation will be considered, but authors are asked to relegate, as far as possible, the details of analysis to an appendix.
