On May 4th, our community gathered to celebrate the impact and tireless efforts of our educators and leaders across Greater Chicago-Northwest Indiana at our Annual Benefit: The Power of Now. As our educators shared in this video, how we collectively support students now and over the coming years will define the next generation of leaders in our community. The evening was an opportunity to come together and reimagine the future of education.

I am humbled by the opportunity to lead our organization in this moment. Every day my work is fueled by my own journey as a Chicago Public Schools student, a daughter of a career Chicago Public Schools educator, a Teach For America corps member to incredible middle school students in St. Louis, and a Teach For America coach and program leader to our members in Greater Chicago-Northwest Indiana. 

I also had the opportunity to speak with 2013 alumna Briana Jocelyn, assistant principal and founding teacher at KIPP One Academy, who has been working in education for nearly a decade. In our conversation, Briana referenced the important role that Teach For America plays in both recruiting leaders to the field of education and providing ongoing development for a community of alumni that is focused on giving our students the best chance for a bright future.
