TFA Summer HEAT

TFA Summer HEAT is a new, virtual development program designed exclusively for early-career teachers who are educational change agents. In this innovative program, you will learn strategies to increase academic rigor, enable social-emotional learning, integrate culturally-relevant pedagogy, and embody anti-racist teaching practices in your classroom.  

If you’re a 2018-2021 Teach For America corps member or alumni teacher, you’re eligible to participate in this FREE training program that includes: 

• Virtual advancement training including a 2-week intensive to advance your teacher leadership
• Optional and flexible offerings the week before and after the intensive to accelerate your impact
• Connection to rising leaders from across the country
• Programming led by our partner organizations and TFA, focused on student outcomes 
• Your choice of one of two training tracks from Digital Promise or Rollins Center for Language and Literacy
• Sharable credentials and ongoing professional development hours upon completion
• A $250 stipend when you bring your TFA Summer HEAT learnings back to your classroom in the fall

WEEK 1 - Optional Foundation Sessions: 

• Includes 10 hours of live facilitation - join live or view recordings at your own convenience.
• Led primarily by Teach For America to develop teachers’ fluency in the Broader Student Outcomes, we will seek to enable in-classroom practice and how these outcomes are connected to our organization’s 10-year goal and pursuit of systemic change. 
  
  

WEEKS 2-3 - Intensive Track of Choice: 

• Includes 50 total hours of live facilitation and flexible, asynchronous content.
• Led by our chosen partner organizations (Digital Promise or The Rollins Center for Language and Literacy) and will deliver content that is rigorous, research-based, and aligned to teachers’ needs and growth areas. It will accelerate the knowledge, skills, orientations, and agency we want to be true for students in today’s schooling.
• Will earn micro-credential from partner organization to further demonstrate your leadership.

WEEK 4 - Optional Meaning-Making Workshops: 

• Includes 10 hours of live facilitation - join live or view recordings at your own convenience.
• Teach For America will lead the conclusion of the program with optional teacher-driven application of learnings to their direct classroom practice in preparation for the fall.
• Teach For America will also provide a certificate of CEUs for all development hours (synchronous and asynchronous).
