Rural Entrepreneurship SIG award for excellence in programming
Traditional economic development strategies have failed to address the specific needs of rural communities and small towns. The ecosystems, social networks, and information flows are unique in these regions. Important aspects of economic development in rural communities and small towns include small business resiliency and entrepreneurship. The purpose of this award is to highlight innovative pedagogical and co-curricular programmatic approaches to the practice of rural entrepreneurship as an economic development and resiliency-building strategy. The programs must be affiliated with a university or college to be eligible. There will be a $1,000 prize for the top program through a sponsorship from the Miller School of Entrepreneurship at East Carolina University.
