Join us for our next Meetup on Cryptocurrencies continue their expansion with a 880 % growth in 2021*. Belgium alone saw USD 25 billion of exchange in one year. This growing industry is obviously under scrutiny of policymakers and regulators. The Belgian regulator is not to be outdone. It has just issued a new regulation: VASP, that will come into force on May 1st 2022. On April 21st, let's meet up and discuss the impact of this new regulation on "Virtual Asset Service Providers" and the amazing evolution of cryptocurrencies. An expert from DLA Piper will explain what VASP is and the reasons behind these new rules, game-changer for all Belgian crypto players. In parallel, the European Commission has intensively been working on the Markets in Crypto-assets (MiCA) Regulation first introduced in 2020 and that will strongly impact the whole of our sector. A few weeks ago, the European Parliament adopted its negotiating position on MiCA.
With a lot of Belgian and European regulation already there and on their way, it is obvious that the cryptocurrency sector is strongly evolving. Join us on April 21st and be part of a round table of different players from the financial industry, including BAx Belgium and Bit4You, to discuss the visions, constraints and opportunities brought by these evolutions.
