An Evening with Jenifer Lewis
Webster University is thrilled to welcome award-winning actress and alumna Jenifer Lewis home to the Loretto-Hilton Center for an evening of hilarious conversation in celebration of her new book, Walking In My Joy.
A native of Kinloch, MO, an under resourced community, Ms. Lewis earned her BFA from Webster’s Sargent Conservatory in 1979. But that was just the beginning of her relationship with the university; over the years Ms. Lewis has forged a bond with the University, the Conservatory and Chancellor Stroble that is unusual and meaningful and is leading other students by example. In 2015, Ms. Lewis received an Honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters and gave an inspired Commencement address. That same year, Ms. Lewis established the endowed Sargent Conservatory Fund to enable students who look like her to have the assistance to pursue their dreams, just as Webster did for her.
Ms. Lewis has always said that when she arrives on the Webster campus that she feels she has come home. And Chancellor Stroble echoes that feeling, commenting that when Ms. Lewis arrives, the Webster family feels more complete. Please join us for this special homecoming!
