Quemuel “Q” Arroyo is a transportation and universal design expert. He currently serves as the first Chief Accessibility Officer and Senior Advisor to the Chairman & CEO of the New York State Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA). Quemuel joined the MTA from Charge, a micro-mobility docking station startup where he served as interim President and Global Head of Community. Prior to Charge, he served as the first Chief Accessibility Specialist at the NYC Department of Transportation. Quemuel is a quintessential New Yorker. He is a former para-athlete, a policy enthusiast, and passionate about education and development opportunities for urban youth. He was born in the Dominican Republic and lives in Harlem. He serves on the boards of several nonprofits including the board of trustees of New York University (NYU), NYC Outward Bound Schools, Project Sunshine, Positive Exposures, and the Hudson River Community Sailing. He obtained a BA in Urban Design and History of Architecture from New York University and a MPA from the NYU Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service. Quemuel is an avid scuba diver and enjoys sailing on NYC’s waterways or as he likes to call it, the sixth borough.
