Biofluid proteomics provides avenues for the detection of disease-specific protein biomarkers, opening opportunities for early detection and diagnosis through non-invasive or minimally invasive screening and potentially revealing therapeutic targets. While less intrusive sampling is the ideal, these sample types, including plasma and serum, tend to be analytically challenging for biomarker discovery. In this webinar, we discuss analytical workflows and use cases for biomarker discovery in plasma, dried blood spots, and exosomes.
One widely adopted approach for biomarker discovery is mass spectrometry. To overcome the high dynamic range of blood and plasma proteins that can be problematic with mass spectrometry, samples are prepared using the Seer Proteograph platform with sensitive and reproducible detection of the resulting peptides on the SCIEX ZenoTOF 7600 system. A second approach is the Olink Explore 3072 platform, which is a highly multiplexed immunoassay that gains specificity by using dual antibody recognition of protein targets and increases sensitivity through amplification of the antibody-linked oligo tags to measure up to 3,000 proteins. In this webinar, we discuss these complementarity biomarker discovery workflows and demonstrate use cases that highlight their utility for protein biomarker discovery.
