Waste not, want not: the circular economy
About The Event
Studies show that by focusing on recycling in just five key areas of cement, aluminium, steel, plastics and food, the world can eliminate almost half of the remaining emissions from the production of goods by 2050, or 9.3bn tonnes of carbon dioxide, by 2050* – equivalent to cutting current emissions from all transport to zero. How are companies finding solutions to dealing with the waste they produce?
This expert panel examines the profits and pitfalls of the circular economy.
ABOUT CLIMATE CAPITAL COUNCIL
The FT’s New Agenda is driving the company’s overall mission to produce informative, actionable content related to climate change, and the mission of the FT Climate Capital Hub extends to the aim of bringing organisations together to share experiences and ideas.
The FT Climate Capital Council is a forum where relevant FT readers, business leaders, academics, NGOs and policymakers can gather together through a series of regular events to discuss the responsibilities, challenges and aspirations businesses, governments, institutions and societies face in dealing with climate change. It also offers a space for businesses to share and collaborate on practical solutions.
After each event, the Council produces post-event reports highlighting the key actionable take-outs for businesses to consider. As the Council evolves it will look to develop new resources and tools to help the community respond to the challenges of climate change.
