Working With the Alaska Native Population
Southcentral Foundation is an Alaska Native-owned health care provider responsible for providing health care and related services to approximately 70,000 Alaska Native and American Indian people in Alaska’s Cook Inlet region.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
This course provides attendees with a basic understanding of cultural diversity and the importance of culturally competent care delivery of Substance Use Disorder and Behavioral Health services to Alaska Native and American Indian persons.Topics explored include the impact of cultural contexts on care, disparities in access to care, and resilience through culture. This course is approved by the State of Alaska Board of Social Work Examiners for 6 hours of Alaska Native-specific CEUs, and Social Workers will be prioritized for attendance.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND
Although this training is tailored for organizations providing services to Alaska Native/American Indian communities, it can be valuable for anyone serving Indigenous/Tribal/Native communities anywhere. This training will benefit providers and other direct care workers; medical directors; executive leadership; improvement personnel; and anyone seeking understanding about how culture impacts health care.
