    AGENDA

    Sessions will include:

Working with the ambition you’ve got right now.
    —
Maybe you’re making every effort to get a promotion or land new clients or convince people on LinkedIn to follow you. Or maybe you’re taking a break from striving, or never genuinely aspired to any particular title or salary or level of influence. Dorie Clark welcomes all attitudes toward ambition to this conversation. Dorie is an incredibly hardworking and successful entrepreneur and coach. She also recognizes that “the success narrative of corporate life” is a grind, and a lot of us are less-ambitious than we have been in the past. During this time with her, we’ll help you clarify (to yourself and others) what you want and why, see alternatives to single-mindedly climbing the career ladder, and recognize when slowing down or ramping up is in your best interest.

Team trust is a balancing act.
    —
How much do the people on your team trust each other? Are any of those feelings one-sided, or are they mutual across the board? Organizational psychologist Ruchi Sinha mapped trust on many different teams and discovered very good reasons for you to do the same—and she’ll explain how to go about that as a manager. She’ll also explain why, when you’re leading a team through a high-stakes decision that needs to be made and acted on fast, you should consciously switch between telling people what to do and asking them what they think should be done. Get acquainted with Ruchi’s thinking ahead of time, if you like, by listening to “The Essentials: Building and Repairing Trust.”

In this next phase of DEI, center data.
    —
If you’re a longtime listener of the podcast, you’re probably familiar with strategist Lily Zheng’s incisiveness and sense of humor. They’re someone who makes you think—and laugh. On different episodes over the years they’ve spoken plainly about the problems the gender binary causes, how men can become effective allies to women, and the roles critical to sustaining a movement. Here they’ll talk about the power of demographic data (collected legally and used effectively) to correct discrimination, design fair processes, and demonstrate a company’s progress toward diversity, equity, and inclusion. Lily will also talk about what needs to change about DEI and what doesn’t.

    Ask the Amys.
    —
Need help with a negotiation you’re in the middle of, a workplace relationship that’s been dragging you down, a decision you’re struggling to make, or something else? Ask the Amys about it. They’re especially wise and practical in these areas: leading teams, dealing with conflict and difficult people, making decisions, managing stress and uncertainty, negotiating, and communicating.

If there’s a question you’d like them to answer during the session, email it to womenatwork@hbr.org before May 13. Their producer will reach out if they need to know anything else about your situation in order to give you the most relevant and useful guidance they can. Thanks for contributing!
