With a little help from my friends: How LuminexPLORE Lab helped Streck validate its newest blood collection tube

Like DNA, proteins in our blood can provide insight into a person’s health and/or risk for disease. However, blood is complicated and can change quickly once it's drawn, making the proteins researchers are looking for hard to analyze. This becomes an issue when labs process and analyze samples in different ways and at different times after collection. Recognizing the need for a specialized blood collection tube that stabilizes plasma protein concentrations, Streck created Protein Plus BCT™. However, this development journey was not without challenges, as Streck quickly recognized the need for external proteomic analysis tools. This presentation will describe how Streck used Luminex® xMAP® Technology and LuminexPLORE Lab services (part of Luminex) to analyze over 50 proteins of interest during product validation. These data helped Streck to conclude that Protein Plus BCT maintains draw-time concentrations of plasma proteins of interest during ambient temperature storage.
