About The Event
IJM Romania focuses on combating human trafficking, mirroring global efforts by the organization. Our work begins with casework, collaborating with the criminal justice system to support victims and build the capacity of frontline workers. We provide specialized training to police and prosecutors, identifying gaps in the system that hinder effective anti-trafficking initiatives. By advocating for legislative changes, we've successfully influenced the justice system's approach to victim support and compensation, leading to significant advancements.
Stefan Coman is the Advocacy Lead for IJM in Romania. He grew up in post-communist Romania and became involved with youth charities and anti-trafficking organizations after becoming a Christian in his teens. He began working with IJM Romania in 2019, and now works closely with caseworkers, authority figures, and members of law enforcement to advocate for survivors of trafficking, and for stronger systems to hold traffickers to account.
