IEEE 1547™-2018 Master Level CCE Training (Virtual, Instructor-Led Course)
live virtual training overview
JOIN THE GROWING POOL OF QUALIFIED INDIVIDUALS WHO CAN VERIFY INSTALLED DER INTERCONNECTIONS FOR COMPLIANCE WITH IEEE 1547
High-complexity DER installations can range from less than 100 kW to many Megawatts and require an in-depth understanding of electric industry operations, standards, installation practices, and commissioning practices.
This virtual, instructor-led course is offered as part of the IEEE 1547 Education and Credentialing Program. It provides the information required for potential credentialing of an individual to perform IEEE Conformance Commissioning of High Complexity DER Installations. All course materials will be available online.
The program covers IEEE 1547 requirements and will also cover the methodology for the complete evaluation of a DER site for conformance to IEEE 1547. The course does not cover other commissioning practices, utility practices, and other industry practices. Registered attendees are required to have sufficient prerequisites to understand the DER site issues and a good understanding of the industry and safety issues.
Upon completion, eligible attendees meeting credentialing prerequisites may take the credentialing exam.
Prerequisites for Credentialing:
This course is best for those with prerequisites required for credentialing. Full attendance and passing of the course are required to be eligible for credentialing. These prerequisites are meant to identify individuals who are well-versed in electric industry practices, understand safety issues, have a good knowledge of DER installations, and have the ability to follow through on the commissioning conformance evaluation taught in the course.
Interested individuals need to understand low and medium-voltage electrical equipment, the basics of major equipment in DER systems, the basic operation of DER systems, protection systems, and safety issues. They must be capable of using appropriate tools and advanced testing tools to evaluate complex DER installations properly.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND:
Those who work in the following types of companies:
ABOUT THE IEEE 1547 EDUCATION AND CREDENTIALING PROGRAM:
Distributed Energy Resources (DERs) such as wind, solar, battery storage, and electric vehicles (EVs) have become a top priority for managing the grid. The benefits these technologies provide to communities around the world also present novel challenges in their integration with distribution networks. IEEE 1547 defines the requirements of these DER interconnections.
As more states continue to adopt IEEE 1547 and its dynamic features for grid support, the industry will require more professionals proficient in the standard and assessing commissioning conformance of DER interconnections. The IEEE Conformity Assessment Program (ICAP), along with utility support and a diverse representation of stakeholder members, has developed an educational and credentialing program that will meet this industry’s needs. IEEE certification will indicate to utilities, DER developers, and owners the experience level necessary to commission an IEEE 1547-compliant DER Interconnection. This program will also deliver to the industry a standardized approach to IEEE 1547 DER Interconnection commissioning that can be adopted anywhere.
