Doreen Masalta

Director of Operations
PECO, an Exelon Company
As the Director of Operations, Doreen Masalta has the responsibility to provide safe and reliable electric service to over 700,000 customers in the City of Philadelphia. She does that successfully through managing a diverse team of more than 230 employees who support both the field and back office. Her field resources include aerial crews that address the overhead poles, wires and equipment, and underground crews who address the cable, transformers and facilities underground. Utilizing these resources allows Doreen to maintain the integrity of the electric system and respond to storms and emergent events. She began her career owning and operating Arbor Tree Specialist, a private tree contracting business out of Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. The business specialized in large, difficult tree removals for residential and commercial customers. Doreen then moved into the utility line clearance industry in 1994 with Asplundh Tree Expert Company where she held various positions including climber, foreperson, estimator and emergent work coordinator. She transitioned into the Vegetation Management Department at PECO in 1998 as a project lead, and became program manager in 2000. Beginning in 2002, Doreen had responsibility for the Vegetation Management Programs at both PECO and its sister utility ComEd in Chicago Illinois. In 2007 she was named Director of PECO’s Project, Contract & Vegetation Management. In late 2009 she became the Director of Operations in the Bucks & Montgomery County Regions until she transitioned into her current role.
