Rachel joined Sainsbury's in August 2015 as Head of Marketing Propositions, reporting to Sainsbury’s Marketing Director, Sarah Warby. Rachel leads the Marketing Propositions department which includes brand identity development and governance, customer planning, strategic proposition development, shopper marketing, customer data governance and agency relationship and performance management. Prior to joining Sainsbury’s, Rachel was Chief of Staff for the Group Marketing Function at Barclays Bank plc. In this role, Rachel worked with the Group CMO to establish a global marketing community of over 700 colleagues worldwide, leading people, commercial, organisational and strategic projects. Before this, Rachel held a number of roles in Marketing for Barclays UK Retail Bank, including brand strategy, colleague engagement and through-the-line marketing communications planning and execution. In recent years, Rachel has received industry recognition as ‘Woman of Tomorrow’ (IPA and Campaign magazine) and a Top 10 Next Generation marketer (Marketing magazine). She has also completed an Executive MBA at Imperial College (with Distinction), in addition to an MPhil in Linguistics (with Distinction) from Cambridge University and a First Class Joint Honours degree in French and German with Dutch from Nottingham University. She also sits on the board of trustees for missing people, a charity that offers a lifeline to children and adults who are missing or missing a loved one. Rachel is a reluctant long-distance runner, keen skier and pub quizzer and wannabe yogi.
