A LITTLE ABOUT THE LAD
We are excited to welcome Aidan to Byron Bay during his first Oz tour.
I am doing comedy because every cell in my body tells me it is what I need to do. I allow my voice speak what it needs to say and sometimes it’s funny. I love it and I hope you do to.” – Aidan Killian
Aidan Killian is a uniquely spirited, charismatic and passionate comedian with a rakish charm. Aidan's intelligent, impassioned and hilarious rants expose the hypocrisy and injustice in this world and leave the audience in a state of joy.
A truly global, professional act, Aidan has performed shows all over the world; A peace festival in the Middle East, Off Broadway in New York, throughout theatres and comedy clubs in the UK, and Asia, and he is the only comedian to do a sitting-room tour of Ireland.
His show ‘Take the Red Pill’ made light of the global financial crisis, drawn from his personal experiences as an investment banker and was a hit in New York after previously playing to sold out crowds at The Edinburgh Fringe Festival and Leicester Square. Not one to shy away from existential depth within his shows, he took on religion with 'Jesus Versus Buddha’, receiving top ratings in reviews at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, then touring 9 countries in Asia. His latest show about whistleblowers received 4-Star and 5-Star reviews at the largest comedy festival in the world, the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Bunbury Magazine gave him a 5-Star review and wrote “Masterclass in satire.”
He has made appearances on BBC Newsnight, RTE, 98 fm, 4fm, Spin fm, Vodafone Comedy Festival and he once left the stage at Electric Picnic, Ireland's largest festival, to perform a giant group hug. He has been compared to Tommy Tiernan, Russell Brand and an "Irish Mark Thomas, but without the cosiness” by UK’s main comedy reviewers, Chortle. Not only was he the only Irish comedian in 2014 to get a 4-star review from Chortle but in 2015 he, once again, received a prestigious 4-star review from Chortle (Only two Irish acts achieved this in 2015… the other being RTE’s Al Porter).
