Charla Long was the founding dean of the College of Professional Studies at Lipscomb University and the creator of their nationally acclaimed competency-based education (CBE) model and badging ecosystem. Today, she serves as a full-time higher education consultant, specializing in competency-based education. During 2015, she served as a consultant to Public Agenda on two significant CBE national landscape and field-building projects, funded by both the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and the Lumina Foundation. IShe also served as a consultant and subject matter coach to EDUCAUSE's 2015 Breakthrough Models Academy and Incubator institutions. In 2016, Long will serve as the Executive Director for the Competency-Based Education Network (C-BEN).
