Practice Rapport
Jason Luban is the brother, son, grandson, great grandson, and, yes, great great grandson of medical doctors. He has traced his heritage back as far as the mid-1700s, finding that almost all of the males in his family have been doctors as far back as he can go.
Jason maintains a private practice specializing in traditional Chinese medicine. He is a licensed acupuncturist in the State of California, and a Diplomate of Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine with the National Commission for the Certification of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. He received his Bachelor of Science from the University of California, and his Master’s Degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine from the Academy of Chinese Culture & Health Sciences.
Jason has been actively involved in integrating the concepts underlying advanced communications, neurolinguistic programming (NLP) and hypnosis into his medical practice in order to improve doctor-patient communication and speed the process of symptom relief. Jason is certified to use hypnosis, and is continually training both in California and in the U.K. to integrate the benefits of advanced communication skills into his practice, with the goal of training other healthcare practitioners to do the same.
Jason has worked integratively with physicians, chiropractors, physical therapists, psychotherapists, and practitioners of many other modalities, including stints at Western medical clinics and hospitals in San Francisco and Oakland, California. He also studies regularly with several mentors, each of whom provide a unique perspective on the practice of medicine and communication.
Beyond his private practice, Jason has worked at low-income clinics such as San Francisco’s Quan Yin Healing Arts Center and Glide Health Services at Glide Church. He also spent months working in Guatemala as part of the Guatemala Acupuncture and Medical Aid Project, and took a sabbatical in 2005-6 to travel and work in Australia, New Zealand, and South America. He has written articles and presented at conferences and seminars around the U.S. on practice management, HIPAA law, and patient communication.
When not seeing patients, Jason is a bit of a computer geek, having designed and developed software for the medical profession through his company, Trigram Software (makers of “AcuBase”). Trigram was sold in 2009, allowing him to pursue his larger passion of teaching rapid rapport to medical practitioners of all stripes.
