The Canadian Urban Transit Research and Innovation Consortium (CUTRIC) is hosting a virtual announcement on Wednesday, September 30 at 11:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. EDT. The announcement will profile a new investment and project led by eCAMION, an Ontario-based energy storage solution provider. eCAMION will benchmark the performance of two competing charging technologies that will reduce the price of these charging systems from $1 million to $500,000. These innovative battery-based energy storage systems will have the ability to charge at night and discharge during the day when needed, allowing for lower electricity costs leading to operational savings as well as a reduced environmental footprint. This will significantly reduce the cost barrier that is faced by transit agencies and would support the realization of the target of 5,000 electric buses in Canada by 2024. Durham Region Transit will be the first deployment partner in 2022. Join CUTRIC, eCAMION and Donna Skelly, Parliamentary Assistant of the Ministry of Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade, virtually as we announce this innovative project on Wednesday, September 30 at 11:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. EDT.
