DBS Barring Explained: When Do You Have a Duty to Refer?
About the Event
DBS barring referrals: do you know when your legal duty to refer applies? Join Laura Gaskell, National Outreach Adviser at the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS), for a free, practical workshop on 18 November, delivered in partnership with The Access Group. Laura will explain when organisations have a legal duty to refer, how the barring process works and what you need to know to make informed safeguarding decisions. In this session, Laura will cover the three different referral routes, when a DBS barring referral should be made and what triggers the legal duty to refer, what regulated activity means, how to make a good-quality referral, and the potential consequences of failing to make an appropriate referral or being included on one or both DBS Barred Lists. This is a free 90-minute session, including time for questions, open to recruiters, employers, HR professionals and anyone involved in safeguarding, disciplinary processes or managing staff in regulated activity. No specialist DBS knowledge is required. Register now to secure your place.
