Get to Know Dallas
The Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex is the fourth most populous metropolitan area in the United States, with the city of Dallas being the third most populous city in the state of Texas, right behind Houston and San Antonio. The city's prominence arose from its historical importance as a center for the oil industry and its position along numerous railroad lines. Dallas is one of the fastest-growing cities in the United States. From 2010 to 2016, Dallas recorded the highest net domestic migration in the country, in excess of 300,000.
The possibilities for BIG moments in Dallas are endless. Dallas is home to the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden, the George W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum, and the Perot Museum of Nature and Science (educators get in for free with ID!).
Oak Lawn, specifically Cedar Springs Rd between Oak Lawn Ave. and Wycliff Ave., is the center of Dallas' gay nightlife (located 3 miles north of Downtown). Notable hotspots include JR's Bar & Grill, Sue Ellen's, Round-Up Saloon, and Station 4.
