District Science Leadership Community of Practice Meeting 1
About the Event
Hosted by The Naval Surface Warfare Center, Corona The intent of these meetings is to bring together district and school site science leaders to focus on NGSS implementation for Region 10 in response to Science on the California Dashboard. We will use Implementation Science in order to focus on our Aim Statement, Primary and Secondary drivers and Change Ideas. As a science leader in Region 10, you will help the region to focus on vital behaviors for NGSS implementation for the secondary and elementary classrooms, including the Science Interim Assessments. These vital behaviors will drive the planning and work for our District Science Teacher’s Community of Practice meetings. The Science Practices Continuum will be used to build the capacity of school site administrators through guiding and evidence based science practice instruction using the Science Interim Assessments as drivers. The use of the Science Interim Assessments as formative assessment and as an instructional practice will build NGSS capacity. We envision that leaders will go back and share this information with others in their district and sites for implementation purposes. A “district science leader” is a teacher, department chair, or administrator who has been identified by the district office or School Site as their designated science representative.
