Intelligent Ultra-Compact Hyperspectral Imaging Systems for Targeted Quality Monitoring in Agriculture and Food Processing
Presented by Dr. Henrich Engelke Fraunhofer Institute for Photonic Microsystems IPMS, Cognitive Systems, Scientific Research Associate
Hyperspectral imaging is a powerful tool for quality monitoring in agriculture and food processing, but conventional systems require extensive data acquisition and processing, limiting real-time applicability. This webinar introduces a novel approach that combines AI- based analysis of an initial RGB image with targeted spectral measurements at relevant regions of interest (ROI).
By replacing full image cube analysis with selective measurements enabled by MEMS-based beam steering, data volume and system complexity are significantly reduced while maintaining essential material information. A compact demonstrator system is presented, along with selected application examples highlighting the practical benefits of the approach.
