    Speaker FAQ

May I request a special room set up for my workshop?

All workshop rooms are set in schoolroom (rows of 6x18 tables with a podium at the front). This room set is used to maximize the number of seats available in the program. Special meeting room setup will be considered based on interpreted logistics of the workshop if selected and based on space availability. If you would like your workshop to be considered for an alternative room setup (rounds as opposed to theater), you will have an opportunity to request and include an explanation when submitting your workshop proposal. There will be no guarantee that the request for an alternative room set will be provided.

Do presenters receive any compensation or reimbursement for expenses?

As a nonprofit association, Head Start California does not pay an honorarium for workshop presentations.

Presenters must also cover their own travel and printing expenses. HSC offers workshop handouts online.

Do presenters receive a discount on conference registration?

Presenters (primary) will receive a complimentary registration, which will be provided if your proposal is accepted.  HSC limits panels to two co-presenters. The co-presenters fee is $150.00 per co-presenter.

Will my handouts be available on-site?

HSC will ensure that all handouts received by the Monday, October 10 deadline, will be posted on our event website and available through the app.

What AV equipment will HSC provide for my presentation?

Head Start California will provide an LCD projector, screen, cart, and electrical cords. Presenters are responsible for their own computer, laptop, or other devices to connect to the LCD projector. Head Start California does not provide Internet service.

Are there exceptions to the vaccine requirement for this conference?

Yes, HSC will be accepting medical exemptions*. Proof of exemption must be provided to HSC staff no later than two weeks prior to the event.

Attendee/Speaker will additionally need to provide a negative PCR test within 72 hours of the conference date and must wear a mask.

*Medical exemption proof is defined as "documentation from a medical professional certifying a valid exemption from vaccination due to a medical condition or disability"
