Daniel Llargues currently works for the FEMA Headquarters Office of External Affairs serving as the Multilingual External Affairs Officer for the growing Limited English Proficiency communities in the United States. Mr. Llargues’ career with FEMA started in FEMA Region VI in 2008 as a Disaster Assistance Employee. His first assignment was Hurricane Ike in Houston, TX where he served as a Joint Information Center Lead, Public Affairs Officer, Videographer and Photographer in the External Affairs Division. During this disaster, Mr. Llargues worked closely with survivors with Limited English Proficiency needs, also working closely with the Hispanic, Vietnamese and Chinese media in the region. Mr. Llargues’ has deployed to more than 30 federally declared disasters to provide information to survivors on how to request assistance from FEMA to begin the recovery process. Mr. Llargues attended the University of Texas where he received a bachelor’s degree in journalism and communications, his career started with the local radio station La Ley and the local Telemundo affiliate in San Antonio, TX.
