- The Bank of Ireland Money Smarts Quiz Challenge is organised by Bank of Ireland whose decision on all matters relating to the Competition will be final.
- The Competition entry closing date is 11:59pm GMT on the 17th of April 2023. Under no circumstance will late entries be accepted.
- Each school may enter up to 5 teams each comprising of four second level students (each a “Team”) aged between 12-19 years on the 2nd of June 2023, who are enrolled in a secondary school in the Republic of Ireland or Northern Ireland, are eligible to enter (the “Entrants”).
- Students can only win the title ‘Money Smarts Champion of the Year’ once. Please note that previous Winners are not eligible to re–enter the Competition in subsequent years.
- The judging panel for the Competition will include at least one person who is independent of the promotion of the Competition. The names of those comprising the judging panel will be made available to competition Entrants upon written request.
- We reserve the right to hold void, suspend, cancel or postpone any date in relation to the Competition due to low registration numbers, COVID 19, adverse weather conditions or other circumstances beyond our reasonable control if we deem it necessary.
- The Money Smarts Quiz Challenge is open to all students but most applicable to those in 4th Year. Entrants do not need to come from a business / economic / accounting background – Financial Literacy is a life skill that everyone needs! - Each school may enter a maximum of five Teams into the Competition Quarter Final live events which will be hosted in the RDS Dublin which will take place on 18th, 19th and 20th of April 2023 (the “Quarter Finals”).
- Five Teams will go through from the Quarter Final events to the Grand Final event held on the 12th of May 2023 (the “Finals”).
- Successful participants must follow all instructions we provide. We do not accept any responsibility for any technical issues faced by the Entrants during the Competition including (without limitation) lack of hardware, inability to use any of the software, loss of connectivity, or other technical breakdowns.
- Fifteen Teams will be competing in the Grand Final in May 2023 (the “Finals”). The Competition winners will be announced at the Finals.
- Entrants who successfully enter the next stages of the Competition (e.g. Finals) may not be amended unless a specific reason for the change has been reviewed and approved by Bank of Ireland at least 24 hours in advance to the event commencing.
- We do not accept responsibility for entries which are not fully completed. Entries which are incomplete (i.e., some information requested on the entry form is not provided, altered, illegible or not in accordance with these Rules) may be disqualified.
- Entrants will be asked to sign an anti-cheating declaration before partaking in any event. If we become aware of any breach of the declaration, the Entrant will be immediately disqualified from the Competition.
- There are three prizes for the schools of the winning Teams of the Final with the highest scores as determined by us (the “Winners”). First prize is €25,000, the second prize is €3,000, and the third prize is €1,000 (the “Prizes).
- The Winners of €25,000 must provide to the satisfaction of the Bank fully audited accounts prior to receiving the prize. Winners may be liable to pay tax on the prize and are responsible for discharging any and all liabilities. We do not accept any liability for any tax or other fees payable on the Prizes.
- Prizes will be electronically transferred to a bank account held in ROI or NI, in the name of Winner’s school and if applicable, at a rate of exchange set by us.
- All Teams in the Quarter Finals and the Finals will face a test of skill. The three Final Teams who score the highest (as adjudged by us) will win the Prizes. If there is a tie for 1st place, the first Prize will be awarded to the Winner who scores the highest in the fastest time. If there is a tie for 2nd, place, the second Prize will be awarded to the Winner that was fastest in time. The remaining Winner will be awarded third place.
- Entrants must be over 12 years and under 19 years on 2nd of June 2023, or their Team will be ineligible to win a prize. The Winners shall, if requested by us provide satisfactory proof of age before being awarded a Prize.
- The decision of the judges will be final and binding on all Entrants and Winners. Correspondence will be entered into only at the absolute discretion of Bank of Ireland.
- We reserve the right to vary and (or) substitute any/all element(s) of the Prizes with Prizes of similar or of greater value.
- All Prizes are non-transferable.
- All entry conditions and instructions are deemed to form part of these Rules.
- All entries (and any copyright and/or related rights) will automatically become the property of Bank of Ireland.
- All Entrants (“entrant” includes any person who is a member of a Team that enters or attempts to enter the Competition) acknowledge that we will use, store and process their personal details to run the Competition including for publicity purposes in accordance with our Data Privacy Notice which is available at (for ROI applicants) https://www.bankofireland.com/privacy/data-protection-notice/ or (for Northern Irish applicants) https://www.bankofirelanduk.com/site-links/privacy-notice/ .
- All Entrants agree to the use of their names and addresses and/or photographs for publicity purposes. Entrants also agree that their names and addresses may be disclosed by Bank of Ireland to its agents for the purpose of administering the Competition and/or distributing the Prizes.
- These Rules are governed by Irish law, and the Irish courts will have exclusive jurisdiction.

About The Event
Teachers & Principals! This year the Money Smarts Quiz Challenge was bigger and better than ever. Close to 2,000 students from schools all across the island of Ireland competed in the RDS Dublin over the 18th, 19th and 20th of April and we have secured our finalists. Each school was invited to put forward a maximum of five teams of four students. The day long events, hosted by James Patrice, included talks on Financial Wellbeing. This highly interactive Award Winning financial literacy quiz brought this important topic to life for students in a fun and engaging way. At the Grand Final on the 12th of May in Trinity Exam Hall, one school will be crowned Money Smarts Quiz Challenge Champion and win €25,000 for their school. The Money Smarts Quiz Challenge is closed for registrations - but if you missed it this year, don’t worry. Money Smarts Quiz Challenge will be back with a bang in 2024! Terms and Conditions apply.

Note: These Rules of Entry (the “Rules”) apply to the Bank of Ireland Money Smarts Quiz Challenge (“the Competition”) organised by Bank of Ireland, Baggot Plaza, 29 – 31 Baggot Street, Dublin 2.
