ABSTRACT
O K-edge X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS) revealed unoccupied electronic states around O trend to increase after simulated space weathering (SWS), remarking O character within the structure that could be associated with Si reduction in Olivine and Pyroxene. Symmetry distortions around Fe atoms increase after weathering due to possible lattice defects were revealed at Fe L-edge XAS. Si Kβ X-ray emission spectroscopy (XES) for Olivine and Pyroxene present Si-O bonding spectral features and XES analysis point to reduced Si species after SWS. Increase in the Fe oxidation state in SWS from Fe2+ to Fe3+ is observed by electron energy loss spectroscopy (EELS) at Fe L-edge in Olivine and Pyroxene. Local electronic structure from O K-edge, Fe L-edge, and Ti L-edge for Hematite, Anatase and Quartz are also presented and discussed.
