    WHAT TO BRING

Mountain weather is always unpredictable, so dress accordingly. Temperatures can fluctuate between 50 and 90 degrees.

FOR HIKING, dress in layers, preferably with a breathable fabric as your first layer. Test out hiking shoes/boots in advance. Bring your own backpack, refillable water bottle, sun hat or cap, rain gear, sunscreen, and lip screen on every hike. Also, consider hiking with one or two ski poles or hiking poles.

FOR DINNER, dress “Aspen Casual” – which means jackets and ties are not necessary for men. For women: summer dresses, skirts, slacks, or jeans with a nice top and sandals or comfy shoes. Remember a sweater or light jacket in the evenings.

    HIGH ALTITUDE

Aspen’s altitude is 7,900 feet and our hikes may be up to 10,000-12,500 feet. The best way to adjust to high altitudes is to drink lots and lots of liquids (preferably water), avoid alcohol the first day or so, and stay rested. Remember to use sunscreen more liberally than you would at lower elevations. Learn more>

    HIKES

Arrive at the meeting location ready to depart for the hike (or bike ride). Some of you will hike farther and faster than others, so we have a cadre of hiking guides to accommodate each level as best we can. Also, please bring your own backpack and carry your own water, snacks, rain gear, etc.

    TRANSPORTATION

The Harold Grinspoon Foundation will be providing shuttles to and from some of our activities and events from July 31 - August 4. Please note that shuttles will stop at the pick-up locations, and then drop off at the destination. They will continue to pick up and drop off guests until the specified time on the schedule.

There are free shuttle buses in Aspen that guests can utilize during their visit. For more information, visit the Roaring Fork Transportation Authority (RFTA) website.
