    Michelle Kaufman, M.S. |
    Navy Federal Credit Union

Finding the right people for your organization is just the start—now you’ve got to
bring them aboard. Two longtime veterans of the Talent Wars share hard-won advice  for C-Suite executives facing the most intractable hiring problems, such as attracting  the “right” talent to the “wrong” locations, ramping up quickly for a new division,  selling sought-after candidates on joining their companies, planning for future talent  shortages and more.

    11:30 AM-12:45 PM

    Concurrent Roundtables

In facilitated peer discussions, participants meet and share their experiences, insights  and ideas across a range of intriguing topics.

    Leadership Disrupted

Thought Leader: Ted Bililies | Managing Director, AlixPartners

In today’s business environment, CEOs are facing increasing challenges; the pace of technology is constantly accelerating, employees and customers are more socially conscious, industries are facing disruption from digital transformation, and increased scrutiny on businesses has been compounded by growing transparency with social media. A CEO’s success is determined not only by their leadership style, but more importantly their ability to adapt the right leadership style for the disruption they face in their industries.

In this roundtable, we will explore the most effective approaches to leadership for CEOs in today’s environment. We will discuss new research on leadership approaches, and contrast the styles of successful CEOs to understand what makes them succeed in their respective markets.

    Stocking The Talent Pipeline

    Thought Leadership: Enterprise Florida

Building the right workforce is about more than hiring. It’s about attracting and developing talent — and that’s more than the job of just business. Increasingly it means partnering a high-powered team of business leaders—very often CEOs—with economic development specialists to leverage all the assets of a region, from local schools to universities and more. It takes creativity, persistence and patience. It isn’t easy. But the payoff can be enormous. This interactive roundtable will:

    -  Examine how to unearth and deploy key assets in an economic region to attract and develop talent
    -  Discuss the specific role business leaders play in improving a region’s workforce development efforts
    -  Detail how to overcome the most common barriers to effective working between state and local governments and private sector entities
    -  Share best practices for creating a win-win model that attracts and creates qualified workforce
    -  Provide several examples of highly successful public-private partnerships that have resulted in building a highly-qualified talent pipeline for occupations in regional target industries

Develop Your Employee Value Proposition to Attract and Retain Talent

Thought Leadership: Dan Fries | Sibson Consulting

Why do some companies attract significantly more than their fair share of talent, have lower levels of turnover and consistently deliver superior results? Winning companies like Google and Southwest Airlines view the recruitment, development and retention of talent as a key component of consistent innovation and differentiated competitive advantage. These companies have a formal Employee Value Proposition (EVP) that guides them and which they communicate to current and potential employees.

In this roundtable, thoughtful and insightful discussion will center on what defines a successful EVP, how an organization can adopt a more strategic, comprehensive and integrated approach to its EVP that includes financial and non-financial rewards, proven methods for designing a distinctive and effective EVP that both plays to an organization’s strengths and also attracts and retains needed talent, and how to close gaps in existing EVP to move closer to stated goals.

    Career Source Florida

Faced with rapid technological and market changes, companies—and communities —  have found the requirements for their talent pools changing fast. Looking to skill and reskill their current and future workforces, they’re turning to apprenticeships,   partnerships with educational institutions and even beefing upgrade school STEM   programs. We’ll explore how one public-private partnership tackled the skills challenge to create a victory for the company and the community, and see what ideas you can adapt.

     2:45-3:45 PM

ENGAGE | Creating a Culture of Engagement
Omar Soliman | College Hunks Hauling Junk

Right out of college, Omar Soliman joined with a high school buddy to launch a local moving service they cleverly named College Hunks Hauling Junk. Twelve years later,   this award-winning company, headquartered in Tampa, Florida, has franchise operations in 35 states and Canada and a dedicated workforce that waxes eloquent about the company’s culture on the College Hunks website. Soliman, now 35, offers insights into how he built—and maintains—an engaged cross-country, cross-generational team of dedicated haulers (and explains why turning down the money he was offered on Shark Tank was the best thing he could have done).

Millennials are now a force to be reckoned with. Baby boomers are sticking around in greater numbers than expected. And Gen X is caught somewhere in the middle. In this panel, an expert on generational differences and a top executive test the bounds of theory and practice to explore collaborative efforts, the lessons the generations can teach each other, and the ways in which the company benefits in the bargain.

    Embraer Melbourne Tour

While at the Embraer Engineering & Technology Center, attendees will visit the mixed reality lab. By combining the rich, visual information of the real world and the flexibility offered by computer-generated images, the mixed reality lab allows Embraer engineers to create digital prototypes and evaluate their designs.

This R&D center features a variety of cutting-edge technologies used by Embraer engineers to validate and test the solutions that will be commonplace in future aviation designs.

Attendees will also tour the production line, capable of producing the entry-level Phenom 100, light Phenom 300, mid-light Legacy 450 and midsize Legacy 500 business jets. Here, the team receives the main aircraft components from its sister divisions in Brazil and Portugal, as well as components from suppliers around the globe, to complete the final assembly process.

The visit will be capped off at the Customer Center, where customers from around the world come to design their aircraft, selecting colors, materials, paint and options. The facility is also home to the delivery suites for all U.S. assembled Embraer Executive Jets.
