Venkatesh Somanathan is a Director and the Global Head of Supplier Financing Solutions in Deutsche Bank’s Global Transaction Banking division. He is responsible for leading Supplier Financing product initiatives and developing and executing the trade finance/supplier financing product strategy for the bank globally. A core element of his mandate is to ensure that the Financial Supply Chain team realises the ambitious goals for this product segment. He is also a subject matter expert on Trade Finance, Risk Distribution and RMB and has been instrumental in spearheading related projects for the trade finance business across the bank’s franchise. Venkatesh is also the Regional Head of Trade Finance Product Management, Asia Pacific. His key responsibilities include managing and developing the bank’s Trade Finance products in this region. Venkatesh has about 20 years of experience in the Trade Finance area. He started his career with Deutsche Bank in 1997 in India. During the intervening years from 2003 to 2006, he was with ABN Amro Bank in India, heading their Supply Chain Financing business. Venkatesh holds a Bachelor’s degree in commerce from Mumbai University. He is also qualified as a Chartered Accountant and a Cost & Management Accountant. He lives in Singapore with his wife and two children.
