Dr. Vezina's is a thoughtful and enthusiastic voice around the power of immersive technologies to enhance understanding in meaningful and exciting ways. Based in Paris and co-founded by trailblazers from game design and robotics, RealCast is part of the inaugural cohort of the world's largest startup campus, Station F (stationf.co), in partnership with Ubisoft. RealCast is developing new forms of multi-user interaction in mixed reality and aspires to create seamless interactions between historical characters, objects and sets so as to enhance users' appreciation of the historical legacy of today's environments. Their first In Situ Experience (ISXP) use-case provides interactive experiences via HoloLens with a bespoke customization for medieval castles. At the same time, RealCast is developing a platform which will serve as sort of "time machine" for developers to build their own XR content with the aim of bringing history alive. A life-long educator and passionate teacher, Dr. Vezina views the exciting potential of augmented reality to enhance learning through the wide lens of his education experience at all levels of K-12 education. He served in a variety of roles during his 17 years at the American School of Paris, most notably as a history teacher, guidance counsellor and Upper School Dean. Dr. Vezina is also Senior Advisor for Strategic Partnerships with the international journalism collaborative Global Student Square and received summer fellowships from the National Association of Independent Schools, Office of Overseas Schools and Harvard's Project Zero among others. Most recently, he was awarded the Innovation Fellowship by the Educational Collaborative of International Schools. In addition to co-founding RealCast, Dr. Vezina is also the founder and Executive Director of ZSchool.org, a non-profit with the mission to equip a new generation with the mindset and skills of entrepreneurship so that they may take ownership of their communities and make a positive impact. This alternative paradigm for service learning blends design-thinking and project-based learning to help students become engaged and empowered citizens and change-makers. Dr. Vezina received his Ph.D in international diplomacy from the Centre des Etudes Diplomatique et Strategique in Paris after earning his BA at Bowdoin College and MA at Columbia University in NY.
