Luiz Pessoa born on 1951 in Covilhã, Portugal is the acting representative of the European Commission in Portugal since September 1, 2011. He is also the head of the Political Section of the European Commission Representation in Portugal and rapporteur political DG Communication since 2006. Luiz recieved his Degree in Civil Engineering at Instituto Superior Técnico, Lisbon in 1976; MBA in International Trade at Solvay Business School of the Université Libre de Bruxelles, Belgium in 1990. In the European Commision, Luiz is responsible for project management of the Cohesion Fund for Portugal and ERDF programs for the regions of Algarve and the Azores from 1995-2006 at the Secretariat General and DG Regional Policy of the European Commission. In the EC, in Brussels, he worked as Team Leader from since 1984-1995, Head of Unit from 1990-1991 and Division Chief from 1988-1990, the Portuguese translation.
